Through our research and study of poverty, we’ve come to see that the best way to fight poverty is to provide dignity affirming work. Hand-out charity is only of limited good. But opportunities to earn? Those make the real difference. That’s why we actively recruit fair trade brand ambassadors for our products.

Our business started several years ago as an off-shoot of the Make Welcome Refugee Sewing School.  The refugee women taking sewing classes were were by and large moms without transportation. Their families needed extra income, but they couldn’t find jobs that would allow them to care for their children. So we decided to take sewing class a step further and create a business that would employ these stay at home moms in small batch manufacturing.

Since then, we’ve been developing products and patterns and employing refugee women and having  a blast in the process! But product development needs a team effort. We need feedback from you, our customers.

Are you interested in helping us develop awesome fair trade products? Then read on to see if you fit the criteria to become a member of the Furaha Society:

  • Are you active on Instagram?

  • Are you willing to give feedback and share photos on your social media feeds?
  • Are you willing to pay $5-15 to cover the time of the refugee mom who is sewing them?
  • Do you live in the continental US?

If you’ve answered yes to the above questions, then please apply to become a member of our product ambassador group, Furaha Society.
